So this weekend I stayed in Bajram Curri and hosted some other volunteers on their first journey this far up north. Finally, an excuse to go swimming in the Valbona River! As we walked up to the river road we noticed a rock with, and I'm not exaggerating here, about 30-40 boys aging from 7-25. We dubbed çun Rock" çun (CHEW-N) in Albanian meaning boy. A little worried about drawing too much attention to ourselves we walked the opposite direction to a less higher rock to jump off of. Not even 10 minutes after we were spotted it was like a parade our direction. They showed us the best places to jump and diving tricks. It was remarkable to watch older brothers teach their younger brothers to swim. Although the water was still freezing they stay in all day, pretty much every day of the summer. The girls don't come down to the river or when they do they go to another place or with their families.
