Another day at work...

In these pictures I'm at the sports stadium with the engineer, my counterpart and the mayor. Construction has finally started again on this huge building after almost 15 years of it sitting there. During communism there was forced labor on this building and when communism fell, like many buildings in Albania, constructions stopped. Their plan is to have a basketball court/soccer field in the center, stadium seating and locker rooms. I hope I am able to see the completion of the project. My job this day was to take pictures and submit them to the regional government. This is a picture me and the mayor, Agron Demushi. I have been doing a lot of work with him since he has to approve everything in my office. He tries to speak English with me which I can appreciate because it means he understands how hard it is to talk in a different language. He also lived in America for a while and returned to be the mayor of Bajram Curri. Tropoje is the birthplace of Sali Berisha, the current Prime Minister of Albania and the Northern part of Albania is typically affiliated with the Democratic party for this reason. There are two main parties in Albania, Democratic (represented by royal blue) and Socialist (represented by pink). The Democratic party is thought to be the more conservative party and the Socialist, the more liberal and modern party.
